Your profile is the first impression you make on the Sentuent platform. A well-crafted profile helps you connect with the right people and build trust.
Profile Essentials
Every profile should include:
Profile Photo
Upload a clear, professional photo of yourself. Profiles with photos get 3x more engagement.
Display Name
Use your real name to build trust. You can use a first name and last initial if preferred.
Bio/Description
Write a brief introduction that highlights your experience and goals.
Timezone
Set your timezone so scheduling works accurately.
For Students
Your student profile should communicate:
Learning Goals
- What subjects are you studying?
- What are you trying to achieve?
- Any specific challenges you're facing?
Education Level
- High school, college, graduate, professional?
- This helps tutors tailor their approach
Preferred Learning Style
- Do you learn best through examples, practice problems, or discussion?
- Any accommodations tutors should know about?
Good student bio: "Hi! I'm a sophomore studying computer science at UCLA. I'm looking for help with calculus and data structures. I learn best through working on practice problems together and appreciate patient explanations of complex concepts."
For Tutors
Your tutor profile is your marketing page. Make it count:
Teaching Experience
- How long have you been tutoring?
- What's your educational background?
- Any certifications or special qualifications?
Subjects & Expertise
- List all subjects you can teach
- Specify grade levels or difficulty ranges
- Mention any specializations
Teaching Philosophy
- How do you approach teaching?
- What makes your tutoring style unique?
- What results have your students achieved?
Availability & Rates
- Your hourly rate (you can adjust this anytime)
- General availability (students will use the scheduler for specifics)
Good tutor bio: "Experienced math tutor with 5+ years helping high school and college students excel. I have a Master's in Mathematics from MIT and specialize in calculus, linear algebra, and test prep (SAT/ACT). My approach focuses on building deep understanding rather than memorization. Students typically see grade improvements within 3-4 sessions."
Profile Tips
Be authentic: Don't oversell or undersell yourself. Honesty builds long-term relationships.
Update regularly: Keep your profile current as your goals or expertise evolves.
Add personality: Let your unique voice shine through while staying professional.
Privacy Settings
You can control:
- Who can see your full profile (everyone vs. connected users only)
- Whether your last name is visible
- Email notification preferences
Access these settings from your profile page > Settings icon.
Editing Your Profile
To update your profile:
- Click your avatar in the top right
- Select "Profile Settings"
- Make your changes
- Click "Save Changes"
Changes take effect immediately and are visible to all users.
