First Steps After Signing Up
What to do immediately after creating your account to get the most out of Sentuent.
Congratulations on creating your Sentuent account! Here's a checklist of important first steps to ensure you're ready to start learning or teaching.
Immediate Actions
1. Verify Your Email
Check your inbox for a verification email from Sentuent. Click the verification link to activate your account. If you don't see it:
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Add noreply@sentuent.com to your contacts
- Request a new verification email from your profile settings
You won't be able to book sessions until your email is verified.
2. Complete Your Profile
Fill out all sections of your profile:
- Upload a profile photo
- Write your bio
- Set your timezone
- Add your subjects (tutors) or interests (students)
3. Set Up Payments
Students: Add a payment method and purchase your first credit package. You'll need credits to book sessions.
Tutors: Connect your Stripe account so you can receive payments. This takes about 5 minutes and requires basic bank account information.
4. Sync Your Calendar (Recommended)
Connect your Google Calendar to:
- Automatically show your availability
- Prevent double-booking
- Get reminders for upcoming sessions
Go to Settings > Calendar Integration to set this up.
First Week Checklist
Explore the Platform
- Browse tutor listings (students)
- Review your dashboard layout
- Check out the messaging system
Make Your First Connection
- Send a message to a tutor (students)
- Update your availability (tutors)
- Try the AI scheduling assistant
Book a Trial Session
- Schedule a 30-minute introductory session
- Test your video/audio beforehand
- Prepare any questions or materials
Set Up Notifications
- Choose how you want to be notified
- Enable calendar reminders
- Download the mobile app (coming soon)
For Students: Finding the Right Tutor
Take time to find a tutor who matches your needs:
- Use filters - Search by subject, price range, and availability
- Read profiles - Look for experience relevant to your goals
- Check availability - Make sure their schedule aligns with yours
- Send a message - Introduce yourself before booking
- Start with one session - Test compatibility before committing to a package
Don't rush: The right tutor makes all the difference. It's okay to try sessions with 2-3 different tutors before choosing one.
For Tutors: Attracting Students
Set yourself up for success:
- Complete your listing - Add detailed subject descriptions and sample topics
- Set competitive rates - Research similar tutors in your subjects
- Upload credentials - Degrees, certificates, or test scores (optional)
- Be responsive - Reply to student messages within 24 hours
- Update availability weekly - Keep your calendar current
Build your reputation: Your first few students are crucial. Deliver exceptional sessions to earn positive reviews and build momentum.
Common First-Time Questions
How many credits do I need? Most tutors charge 1-2 credits per hour. Start with 4-8 credits to try a few sessions.
When will I get paid? (Tutors) Payments are processed weekly to your connected bank account. First payout typically arrives 7-10 business days after your first session.
Can I cancel a session? Yes, with at least 24 hours notice. See our cancellation policy in Billing.
What if I have technical issues? Contact support immediately at support@sentuent.com or use the in-app help chat.
