Screen Sharing & Collaboration Tools

Learn how to share your screen, use the whiteboard, and collaborate effectively during sessions.

Last updated this week

Sentuent's collaboration tools help you teach and learn more effectively. Share your screen, use the interactive whiteboard, and collaborate in real-time.

Screen Sharing

Share your entire screen, a specific window, or a browser tab with your tutor or student.

How to Share Your Screen

1

Click Share Screen

Find the Share Screen button in the control bar at the bottom

2

Choose What to Share

  • Entire screen - Everything on your monitor
  • Application window - Just one program
  • Browser tab - A single Chrome/Firefox tab
3

Click Share

Your screen will appear to the other person immediately

4

Stop Sharing

Click "Stop Sharing" in the control bar when done

When to Use Screen Sharing

Great for:

  • Reviewing code or documents together
  • Demonstrating software or techniques
  • Walking through practice problems
  • Showing research or web content

Not ideal for:

  • Extended periods (can reduce video quality)
  • Sharing sensitive information (close private tabs first)

Privacy tip: Close any private or sensitive windows before sharing your screen. Consider sharing just one tab instead of your entire screen.

Screen Sharing Tips

Close distractions: Close email, messaging apps, and notifications before sharing

Zoom in: Increase font size so text is easy to read

Use a pointer: Enable mouse highlighting to show what you're clicking

Pause when needed: Stop sharing while you navigate to sensitive info

Optimizing Performance

For smooth screen sharing:

  • Close unnecessary applications
  • Use a wired internet connection
  • Share a single window instead of entire screen
  • Reduce screen resolution if experiencing lag

Interactive Whiteboard

Use the built-in whiteboard for visual explanations, math problems, diagrams, and more.

Opening the Whiteboard

Click "Whiteboard" in the control bar or press W on your keyboard
