Syncing Your Google Calendar
Connect your Google Calendar for automatic two-way sync and seamless scheduling.

Why Sync Your Calendar?
Benefits of calendar sync:
- Automatic availability - Sentuent knows when you're busy
- One source of truth - All events in one place
- Prevent conflicts - Never accidentally double-book
- Easy scheduling - The AI can see your real availability
- Mobile access - Check your schedule on any device

Sync Settings
Two-Way Sync
When enabled (recommended):
- Sentuent → Google: Tutoring sessions appear in Google Calendar
- Google → Sentuent: Your Google events block availability automatically
Example: You have a dentist appointment at 2 PM in Google Calendar. With two-way sync enabled, Sentuent knows you're unavailable then and won't suggest that time for tutoring sessions.
One-Way Sync
If you prefer, you can sync only from Sentuent to Google:
- Tutoring sessions appear in Google Calendar
- Your other Google events remain private
- You manually block time in Sentuent for conflicts
Calendar Selection
Choose which Google Calendar to use:
- Primary Calendar (default) - Your main calendar
- Custom Calendar - Create a "Sentuent" calendar to keep things separate
Pro tip: Create a dedicated "Tutoring" calendar in Google Calendar for easier organization. You can color-code it differently from your personal events.
What Gets Synced?
From Sentuent to Google:
- Scheduled tutoring sessions
- Session title (e.g., "Math Tutoring with John")
- Video meeting link
- Student/tutor name
From Google to Sentuent:
- Event times (to block availability)
- Event titles (optional - can hide for privacy)
- All-day events
Privacy & Control
You control what information is shared:
Privacy options:
- Show event titles or just mark as "busy"
- Exclude specific calendars from sync
- Disconnect anytime without losing data
What's NOT synced:
- Event descriptions or notes
- Attendee lists (except the tutoring participants)
- Private events marked "Private" in Google Calendar
Troubleshooting Sync Issues
Events Not Appearing
If events aren't syncing:
- Check connection status - Settings > Calendar Integration
- Verify permissions - Make sure you granted all required permissions
- Force refresh - Click "Sync Now" in settings
- Reconnect - Disconnect and reconnect your account
Sync delay: Changes can take up to 5 minutes to appear. This is normal and ensures accuracy.
Duplicate Events
Seeing duplicate events?
- Turn off manual entries - Don't manually add Sentuent sessions to Google Calendar
- Check calendar selection - Make sure you didn't select multiple calendars
- Clear and resync - Settings > Advanced > Clear Sync Cache
Wrong Timezone
Events appearing at wrong times?
- Check your timezone in Sentuent (Settings > Profile)
- Check your Google Calendar timezone
- Make sure both match your actual location
Managing Synced Events

- Both parties receive notifications
Edit in Google Calendar:
- Changes sync back to Sentuent

Disconnecting Your Calendar
To disconnect Google Calendar:
- Settings > Calendar Integration
- Click "Disconnect Google Calendar"
- Confirm the action
What happens:
- Existing synced events remain in both calendars
- New sessions won't sync to Google
- You can reconnect anytime
Alternative Calendar Apps
Currently, Sentuent supports Google Calendar only. Support for other calendar apps is coming soon:
- Outlook Calendar - Coming Q1 2026
- Apple Calendar - Coming Q2 2026
- iCal feed - Export-only available now
Best Practices
Update both calendars: Keep both Sentuent and Google Calendar current for best results.
Review sync weekly: Check that everything is syncing correctly, especially after making changes.
Use recurring events wisely: Recurring events in Google Calendar will block those times permanently in Sentuent.
